| PictureTalk and Netopia Form Technology Partnership
Netopia is now incorporating PictureTalk software's patent-pending Capture Frame® technology in its new Web conferencing product, Timbuktu Web Seminar (TWS).
PLEASANTON, CA, March 1, 1999, PRNewswire Pixion, a leading supplier of Web-based sales and marketing solutions for software companies, announced today that it has signed a technology partnership agreement with Netopia, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: NTPA) Timbuktu division, a leader in providing award-winning help desk, systems management, and collaboration software.
Through this new technology partnership, Netopia is now incorporating PictureTalk's patent-pending Capture Frame® technology in its new Web conferencing product, Timbuktu Web Seminar (TWS). In addition, the alliance will provide Pixion with the right to both use and resell Netopia's critically acclaimed remote control technology.
PictureTalk's Capture Frame® technology allows organizations to capture live screen imagery and transmit it over intranets and the Internet to remote users. For example, sales and marketing organizations can use this technology with both PCs and Macintoshes to "screencast" live software demonstrations, slide presentations, text files and spreadsheets, and quizzes and polls from their desktops to literally hundreds of users.
"We are very pleased to be in partnership with a world-class organization like Netopia, and consider their use of Capture Frame® as a very important endorsement for this technology," said Peter Madams, the original architect of PictureTalk software. "This alliance effectively integrates two 'best-of-breed' technologies from two leading vendors, and will enable both companies to provide their customers with even greater value."
"Incorporating PictureTalk's 'screencasting' technology enables us to broaden the capabilities of our existing product line," said Jeff Porter, Director of Software Product Marketing for Netopia, Inc. "We view these Web conferencing solutions as cost-effective ways to enhance current network architectures, and provide enterprise users with additional functionality for just a fraction of the cost of most network applications."
Netopia's Timbuktu Web Seminar is powerful Web-based screencasting technology that enables professionals to share information on their desktop with anyone over the Internet. Designed for seamless implementation and optimum ease-of-use in enterprise environments, TWS puts users in front of colleagues, partners, customers, and prospects to hold meetings and conferences, present information, train users, or demonstrate programs in real time from any location.
